Requirements
  • Two years of recent Cath Lab experience with pre- and post-procedure assessment and groin management skills, or at least two years of critical care experience including experience with ventilators, vasoactive drips, or advanced telemetry.
  • A California Registered Nurse license is required.
  • American Heart Association Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support certification must be obtained before completion of orientation and independent assignment.
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale certification is required within three months of hire.
  • The employee must pass orientation and the initial competency assessment before independently being assigned patients requiring the applicable skill.
  • The employee must complete and pass all annual competencies.
  • The employee must be willing and able to participate in rotating on-call coverage and respond within 30 minutes of callback communication.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, direct, assess, and provide nursing care according to hospital and department policies and procedures.
  • Orient new staff and precept students.
  • Assume relief charge nurse duty when oriented and assigned.
  • Perform Cath Lab invasive procedures.
  • Provide patient education for cardiac inpatients.
  • Focus on patient outcomes, core measures, and other organizational initiatives.
  • Coordinate clinical research activities.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in nursing is preferred.
