  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • A minimum of two years of relevant experience working with children under the age of 13 in an educational setting, including at least one year in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision-making ability.
  • Must possess oral, auditory, and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
  • Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program-related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Afterschool Program.
  • Employees must complete child protection training before beginning work.
Responsibilities
  • Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum geared to the needs of each child in the care, classroom, or program, including child health and safety and adherence to YMCA Child Protection policies.
  • Assist in recruiting diverse staff and volunteer teams, onboard and develop them for success, maintain staff schedules, and evaluate staff performance.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, parents and caregivers, community organizations, state child care licensing agencies, and school administration.
  • Develop relationships with school and community stakeholders to communicate initiative goals and ongoing concerns about student needs.
  • Evaluate children’s progress and complete Early Education and Care progress reports twice annually.
  • Ensure programs and services meet community needs by supervising existing activities, establishing new activities, and expanding the program within the community as needed.
  • Assist with marketing and distributing program information.
  • Promote a team concept through supervision, communication, and interactions with others, and maintain ongoing communication with the supervisor and appropriate YMCA staff.
  • Plan and implement appealing and meaningful programs and events for parents and families on a regular basis and provide an ongoing support network for program parents.
  • Ensure adherence to state licensing regulations and maintain staff and child records related to Early Education and Care relicensing.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • A bachelor’s degree related to youth development or education is preferred.
  • Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution, and diplomacy skills.
