Requirements
  • A team-oriented approach and ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to independently troubleshoot electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical equipment using schematics, wiring diagrams, and troubleshooting trees.
  • Ability to read and understand programmable logic controller ladder logic programs; prior experience writing programmable logic controller programs is a plus.
  • Knowledge of computer and network systems.
  • Desire and ability to pursue further education in maintenance functions applicable to the plant.
  • Working knowledge of basic plumbing systems.
  • Willingness to train operations and maintenance personnel.

  • Ability to work around energized, moving, or rotating production equipment when required.
  • Knowledge of, and ability to attain certification in, Lock Out Tag Out, use of Power Industrial Trucks, and NFPA 70E Arc Flash.
Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot equipment and systems.
  • Perform upgrades and repairs to improve equipment and system performance, reliability, and safety.
  • Perform electrical and mechanical installations.
  • Read programmable logic controller programs, reset faults, and identify root causes of failures.
  • Dismantle equipment, remove defective parts, and reassemble equipment without supervision.
  • Use electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, mechanical drawings, and blueprints to diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, or install equipment and systems.
  • Use the electronic work order system to plan, execute, and record corrective actions in detail.
  • Identify and install upgrades, improvements, or substitute parts and components.
  • Perform basic plumbing repairs and installations.
  • Perform repairs and fabrications using lathes, milling machines, saws, and drill presses.
  • Perform quality welding repairs using MIG, TIG, and stick welding equipment.
  • Read and evaluate programmable logic controller ladder logic programs.
  • Troubleshoot and configure Ethernet/IP systems.
  • Use advanced test and diagnostic equipment to troubleshoot and resolve problems with complex equipment and systems.
  • Design, fabricate, and install electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Train personnel on the operation of new and existing equipment and systems and develop their skills and understanding.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, find and correct hidden defects, and update equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, identify, and record root causes of failure; identify recurring issues and document fixes for future reference.
  • Perform mathematical calculations to assist in equipment fabrication and performance evaluation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • A technical school degree in advanced electronics and programmable logic controller programming is preferred; relevant experience may substitute for the technical degree.
  • Aptitude to develop skills in, or prior experience with, writing programmable logic controller programs.
