Requirements
  • Experience administering enterprise Linux systems, with at least 3 years of direct hands-on experience.
  • Knowledge of Linux administration and Windows Server.
  • Experience with virtualization and infrastructure platforms such as VMware, Citrix, or Nutanix.
  • Experience with log management and message broker technologies such as ESB or the ELK Stack.
  • Knowledge of enterprise web services and middleware platforms.
  • Ability to obtain or hold certifications aligned with DoDD 8140 and DoD 8570, such as Security+ CE, Network+ CE, or CASP+ CE.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret security clearance.
  • Ability to perform repetitive motions with the hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • Ability to engage in and follow audible communications in emergency situations.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and work on a computer.
Responsibilities
  • Install, configure, secure, and maintain enterprise Linux servers supporting critical web services.
  • Perform system patching, updates, configuration management, and baseline security enforcement.
  • Manage user accounts, permissions, and security controls in alignment with Department of Defense and Army policies.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and resource utilization to identify and resolve potential issues before they affect operations.
  • Automate routine operational tasks using Bash, Python, Ansible, or standard configuration management tools.
  • Install, configure, and maintain web and application servers, including Apache, NGINX, Tomcat, WebLogic, WebSphere, or IIS.
  • Support the deployment, hosting, and continuous lifecycle management of web-based applications.
  • Manage SSL/TLS certificates, DNS entries, and domain configurations.
  • Maintain and optimize web application uptime, backend service reliability, and delivery performance.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving Linux systems, middleware, authentication services, and key integration points.
  • Provide Tier II and Tier III support for critical incidents affecting web services, content delivery, and system connectivity.
  • Partner with network and cybersecurity teams to investigate and resolve performance, security, and access-control issues.
  • Apply Department of Defense security hardening standards and perform vulnerability remediation.
  • Maintain compliance with NIST, the Risk Management Framework, FISMA, and Army security guidelines.
  • Support continuous log monitoring, security audits, and incident response activities.
  • Create and maintain documentation for system configurations, logical architectures, Standard Operating Procedures, and operational workflows.
  • Identify and recommend improvements in automated processes, infrastructure monitoring, and system reliability.
  • Stay current with technologies, methodologies, and tools relevant to Linux systems and enterprise hosting environments.
