Requirements
  • The candidate must have 1–2 years of experience as a Sous Chef, Chef de Partie, or in a similar culinary leadership role within a high-volume, quality-driven kitchen environment.
  • The candidate must have strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate, coach, and develop a diverse culinary team.
  • The candidate must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining composure, organization, and attention to detail.
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of food preparation, cooking techniques, presentation, and kitchen operations.
  • The candidate must have strong communication and interpersonal skills and be able to collaborate effectively with culinary, Front of House, and Events teams.
  • The candidate must have strong organizational and problem-solving skills and be able to adapt quickly to changing event requirements and operational priorities.
  • The candidate must demonstrate integrity, accountability, professionalism, and a hands-on leadership approach.
  • The candidate must have a strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, workplace safety, and proper food handling procedures.
  • The candidate must have valid Food Handler Certification, depending on location requirements.
  • The candidate must be available to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and varying event schedules based on business needs.
  • The candidate must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Responsibilities
  • Communicate the culinary vision and event expectations clearly and consistently, inspiring the team through strong leadership, professionalism, and a passion for hospitality.
  • Reinforce Oliver & Bonacini values in event operations and maintain standards for culinary excellence, teamwork, and guest service.
  • Support the Executive Chef and culinary leadership team in overseeing event kitchen operations.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, plating, and service for events, ensuring quality, consistency, presentation, and timing standards are met.
  • Monitor kitchen performance, food quality, cleanliness, organization, and food safety throughout event preparation and service.
  • Lead and support the culinary team during events by communicating responsibilities, priorities, timelines, and service expectations.
  • Work with Front of House and Events teams to ensure effective communication and seamless event execution.
  • Adapt to changing event requirements, guest needs, last-minute requests, and operational challenges while maintaining service and professionalism.
  • Oversee inventory management, ordering, receiving, storage, and organization of food products and supplies for event execution and cost control.
  • Ensure food handling, storage, labelling, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures are followed.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, training, coaching, and development of culinary team members.
  • Provide ongoing feedback and coaching to team members and address performance or operational concerns.
  • Foster a positive, collaborative, and respectful environment among culinary, Front of House, Events, and other operational teams.
  • Create and support a culture centered on the enjoyment, creativity, and craft of cooking.
  • Support event setup, service, breakdown, and post-event kitchen procedures.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support events, the team, and the business.

  • Previous experience in event catering, banquet operations, or high-volume service is considered an asset.
