Meroka helps independent physician practices stay independent by providing an employee-ownership transition platform and an integrated practice-management system. It guides owners through creating and funding Employee Stock Ownership Plans (ESOPs), enabling liquidity for owners while granting employees equity based on tenure and contribution. Alongside ownership services, Meroka offers an all-in-one technology platform for billing, revenue cycle management, staffing, compliance, data analytics, and recruiting to streamline operations and reduce costs. The company differentiates itself by combining ownership transition services with bundled, integrated health-tech software, reducing administrative burdens and helping practices avoid consolidation by larger health systems or private equity. Meroka’s goal is to combat healthcare consolidation, preserve physician independence, and improve patient care and provider satisfaction, serving specialties like OB/GYN, primary care, and pediatrics.

What believers are saying

  • Meroka closed a $6 million seed round on September 3, 2025.
  • It reported first OB/GYN transactions and preliminary 5% earnings gains within six months.
  • Hiring across Montréal and London in 2026 shows product and operating expansion.

What critics are saying

  • Meroka is a 2025 launch with no proven multi-year customer retention.
  • ESOP and MSO structures face legal scrutiny; one failed transaction breaks trust fast.
  • Competing PE-backed platforms can outspend Meroka and buy practices faster.

What makes Meroka unique

  • Meroka combines ESOP transitions and practice software, unlike pure RCM vendors.
  • It targets physician independence with employee ownership, not another PE-backed rollup.
  • Its first cohort is OB/GYN, where consolidation pressure stays intense.
