  • Enrollment in a Master’s Program; contract renewal is contingent upon continued enrollment in a Master’s Program.
  • Willingness to live in an on-campus furnished apartment for ten months as part of the Graduate Resident Director (GRD) position.
Responsibilities
  • Get to know residents on campus and be available to them in your office, virtually, and at programs.
  • Respond to students in a timely manner, especially those in distress.
  • Demonstrate respect for residents with different lifestyles and opinions.
  • Become familiar with resources on campus so that you can appropriately guide students.
  • Survey the residents, as appropriate, to continue to receive feedback to help us improve the housing program overall.
  • Work to further develop and enhance the Residential Curriculum and Living/Learning Communities by planning and executing events to engage student development.
  • Assist with the weekly/bi-weekly/monthly staff meetings, which can include helping to form the agenda and running the meetings along with the other Resident Directors.
  • Help to provide feedback and guidance to the CAs/RAs, as well as assist with their evaluations;
  • Assist with the recruitment of CAs/RAs and the selection process;
  • Assist with overseeing the CAs/RAs’ programming throughout each semester to ensure they’re hitting their goals and properly running the programs;
  • Help to ensure programs are properly spaced out and not conflicting with other campus events;
  • Ensure that you have knowledge of the Residence Life Handbook, housing contract, and other important documents;
  • Properly respond to issues of policy violations and document as needed.
  • Serve as a hearing officer for lower/medium level cases of alleged student conduct violations, or as needed.
  • Serve in the emergency on-call rotation for RA support;
  • Follow all duty requirements, such as being on campus (or within five minutes) when on-call;
  • Properly document incidents and submit incident reports;
  • Act as a mandated reporter as required by law;
  • Properly utilize access to master keys, student rooms, etc.
  • Follow all procedures when responding to on-call incidents, contacting Public Safety, 911, Admin On-Call as needed.
  • Work with the Resident Directors on check-ins, check-outs, student moves, roommate mediations, etc.
  • Properly notify Maintenance and Housekeeping of any issues and concerns, as needed;
  • Ensure follow up to any outgoing Maintenance and Housekeeping issues;
  • Assist in overseeing the operations of the Front Desk in the Residence Hall Commons
  • Participate in Student Staff and Professional Staff trainings in August and January
  • Attend bi-weekly professional staff meetings and one-on-one meetings
  • Participate in other professional development opportunities as offered
