Requirements
  • Two or more years of teaching experience in higher education and in an online setting.
  • Experience teaching biology or life sciences.
  • Experience teaching in higher education.
  • Experience writing curriculum.
  • Evidence of supporting learner success and a commitment to quality teaching outcomes.
  • Ability to contribute through teaching and/or service to the diversity, cultural sensitivity, and excellence of the academic community.
  • Experience with scholarly writing and use of APA 6th edition.
  • A doctorate in a related field.
  • A doctorate or master's degree in biology, life sciences, or a related field such as microbiology or human anatomy.
  • Ability to meet critical-thinking and problem-solving aspects aligned with job duties and communicate effectively with co-workers.
  • Ability to access information using a computer.
  • Access to a remote work setting with privacy, reliable internet access, a phone, and video-conferencing capability.
Responsibilities
  • Teach online courses and residencies.
  • Mentor doctoral learners and chair or serve on doctoral committees.
  • Contribute to curriculum and course development, including course plans, objectives, outcomes, teaching aids, competency-based assessments, and authentic assessment tools.
  • Use course data and feedback to improve teaching performance and enhance learner experience.
  • Facilitate dissertation and doctoral capstone course rooms and support learners through timely completion.
  • Assess and document learner knowledge, skills, and dispositions through formative and summative feedback.
  • Monitor learner progress and achievement and refer learners to additional resources as needed.
  • Engage learners through timely and relevant interactions and cultivate a trusting learning community.
  • Participate in school and university governance through faculty committees.
  • Serve as a peer mentor and provide mentorship, feedback, and guidance to other faculty members when appropriate.
  • Contribute professional knowledge and skills to learners, the institution, the profession, and the community.
  • Maintain currency in the scholarly field through research, writing, speaking, conference attendance, professional development, continuing education, and additional credentials.
  • Submit proposals, present at workshops or conferences, showcase original or innovative work, maintain an active research agenda, and submit or publish papers through industry-recognized channels.
  • Participate in program, department, school, or university committees and faculty meetings.
  • Serve as a subject-matter expert in course and program development, accreditation efforts, and innovation projects.
  • Coordinate ongoing assessment of curriculum content quality, currency, relevance, accuracy, and updates.
  • Take on additional projects and specialized assignments supporting learner success and school or university needs.
  • Travel occasionally when business needs arise and work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant.
