Open Home Foundation advocates for privacy, user choice, and sustainability in smart homes by supporting open-source projects and open connectivity and communication standards. Its product approach centers on funding and coordinating open-source initiatives and championing interoperable, open standards so devices can work together while respecting user privacy and energy efficiency. Compared with many players in the smart-home space, it emphasizes openness over vendor lock-in, aiming to give consumers real choices and better control over their devices. The Foundation’s goal is to foster an ecosystem where smart-home technology is transparent, interoperable, and environmentally sustainable for everyone who lives in a connected home.
