The Baltimore Banner 2024 Creatives in Residence Program!
About the Opportunity:
The Baltimore Banner is proud to announce the next iteration of our ‘Creatives in Residence’ program. Started in the summer of 2022, the mission of the program is to amplify the work of artists and writers from the Baltimore region. Read past work from the Creatives here.
This mission will continue with a new class of Creatives that will include poets, essayists, visual designers, content creators, journalists, musicians and artists. Their work will be featured on our online platforms. Each Creative will have a unique perspective and experience to inform their reporting and storytelling about living, learning, working and creating in the Baltimore region.
Applications for the 2024 class of Creatives are now open.
This is a paid residency with a duration of 12 months starting from its commencement.. This is a Freelance opportunity.
.Requirements:
- Produce six pieces throughout the residency, averaging once every two months
- Pitch ideas and work with editors
- Be able to attend occasional virtual meetings and respond promptly to communication
- Must be at least 18-years-old and a resident of Baltimore City, Baltimore County, Howard County or Anne Arundel County
- Ability to receive constructive feedback
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Commitment to upholding journalistic values and ethics

The Baltimore Banner is a nonprofit newsroom dedicated to providing high-quality local journalism to the Baltimore metro area. We hope to reimagine the future of local news by building a vibrant, strong, trustworthy, and sustainable news organization. With a multi-platform news operation, we cover a wide range of topics, including local government, culture, and the arts.
