Simplify's Take

What believers are saying

  • Q2 2026 orders hit $12.0 billion, with backlog reaching $30 billion.
  • ABB is spending $200 million in Europe to relieve grid and data-center bottlenecks.
  • SoftBank's robotics exit should fund electrification, automation, and higher-return acquisitions in 2026.

What critics are saying

  • Siemens and Schneider Electric are winning AI data-center deals faster across Europe and America.
  • ABB's SoftBank robotics sale removes $2.3 billion revenue and adds $400-500 million taxes.
  • A hyperscaler capex freeze in 2027 would crush ABB's growth engine.

What makes ABB unique

  • ABB owns premium electrification hardware spanning switchgear, transformers, motors, and DC power.
  • ABB's NVIDIA Omniverse and Cognite integrations turn industrial systems into operational digital twins.
  • ABB leads hazardous-area efficiency with IE6 magnet-free motors and SF6-free grid equipment.

Inclimo backs Danish grid tech firm Oktogrid in $4.5M round led by Elewit

Danish startup Oktogrid, which develops non-invasive monitoring technology and AI-powered asset management software for electrical transformers, has raised approximately €4 million in funding. The round was led by Elewit, the technology platform of Spanish group Redeia, with participation from Inclimo Climate Tech, ABB, and Delphinus Venture Capital. Founded in 2019, Oktogrid uses magnetic adhesion sensors and AI software to collect transformer data, predict failures, and optimise capacity. The company monitors over 1 GW of critical infrastructure across three continents, serving around 45 clients including 12 utility companies. Its technology has detected 26 early-stage failures and saved approximately 8,600 hours of technical work. The funding will support expansion into southern Europe, the UK, Ireland and North America, whilst enhancing partnerships with ABB and Applus+.
