Requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education.
  • 3 years of experience in on-set production audio or at a sound equipment rental house.
  • Knowledge of on-set microphones and boom operation.
  • Troubleshooting skills with production audio equipment.
Responsibilities
  • The operation, maintenance, and repair of specialized and/or state-of-the-art audio equipment.
  • Building audio production kits optimized by use-case.
  • Inventory and check-in/check-out of audio equipment.
  • Providing technical guidance and direction to faculty, staff, and student workers.
  • Operation of recording systems by Sound Devices, Zaxcom, etc.
  • Upkeep of wireless lavalier systems by Sony, Sennheiser, etc.
  • Knowledge of additional production sound systems like timecode, smart slates, IFB, etc.
  • Researching and procuring needed equipment, tools, parts, and/or materials, and maintaining vendor contacts and technical documentation as needed.
  • Assisting with training and supervising of student workers.
  • Creating procedures and documentation. Communicating and verifying procedures with classes.
  • Organizing inventory of equipment, creating a safe and clean environment in the Sound Equipment Center.
  • Performing other related duties as assigned or requested.
Desired Qualifications
  • 6 years of experience in on-set production audio or at a rental house conducting audio equipment maintenance and repairs.
