Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university is required.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in the field or a related field is required.
  • The candidate must be musically inclined and experienced in reading music, singing, and dance.
  • Drama experience is required.
  • The candidate must be a Salvationist in good standing with faithful attendance and active soldier status at a corps.
  • The candidate must have excellent organizational skills.
  • The candidate must be able to prioritize multiple work tasks to meet tight deadlines.
  • The candidate must maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • The candidate must have a valid New York State license that meets The Salvation Army's insurance requirements.
Responsibilities
  • Support all corps in assessing and enhancing worship quality, with an intentional focus on Sunday worship.
  • Provide corps with creative worship program ideas and resources, introducing and encouraging variety in forms of expression.
  • Teach creative arts and ensure local leadership is trained to continue the ministry.
  • Identify, recruit, and develop leaders for regional and corps creative arts leadership.
  • Provide regional training and events to develop leaders and support a three-year regional plan focused on two different regions per year, rotating regions year over year.
  • Attend corps events in support of corps creative arts performances.
  • Support corps with leadership and resources for creative arts programming, leadership recruitment and development, and recruitment and training of corps group participants.
  • Create developmentally appropriate activities for youth and adults in dance, drama, and art, including digital and video resources.
  • Track all forms of creative arts in the division, including dance, drama, and art.
  • Coordinate the Empire Divisional Drama Team, including the Summer Ministry Team for Vacation Bible School and Jesus Theater training.
  • Coordinate the Empire Divisional Dance group.
  • Oversee the Divisional Youth Music and Arts program.
  • Recruit, train, and process Divisional Youth Music and Arts leaders.
  • Plan Divisional Youth Music and Arts schedules with the Divisional Music Director and communicate schedule updates to the field.
  • Promote and assist corps with participant recruitment for the Divisional Youth Music and Arts program.
  • Plan, direct, and recruit leadership for the Creative Arts component of Divisional Music and Arts Camp.
  • Plan, direct, and recruit leadership for Arts Conservatory.
  • Create and teach choral readings, responsive readings, and choreodramas to enhance worship throughout the year, including holidays and special occasions.
  • Create and provide meeting outlines that promote variety and innovation in worship services.
  • Create and provide themed lists of Salvation Army songbook songs, hymns, and praise and worship music, and appropriately integrate themed scripture readings, dance, and drama into worship services.
  • Promote the use of live music and, where appropriate, worship videos approved according to Christian Copyright Licensing International licensing.
  • Participate in divisional events, including family camp, youth councils, Star Search, Junior Soldier Rallies, Music and Arts Camp, Conservatory, women's and men's camps, rallies, and gatherings.
  • Attend divisional events and provide stage direction as needed.
  • Support territorial events as requested or when related to worship and creative arts.
  • Recruit young people and adults to participate in Music Camp, divisional Conservatory, Star Lake, TAM, Divisional Youth Music and Arts, and Empire Dance.
  • Meet regularly with the Program Secretary and, as needed, the Divisional Music Director for strategic planning and information updates.
  • Participate as an active member of the Divisional Music Committee, Youth Commission, and Women's Commission, and serve on other divisional committees and commissions as requested.
  • Attend divisional calendar meetings and present proposed dates for Divisional Youth Music and Arts and creative arts events.
  • Work within established guidelines and budget restrictions when purchasing materials and running special events at corps and divisional levels.
