Responsibilities
  • Develop and Implement improvements to value in the areas of health, safety, environment, equipment reliability, utility consumption, and cost at the La Porte site.
  • Monitor and assist plant utility operations, troubleshooting issues and improving efficiencies and cost performance.
  • Coordinate Management of Change (MOC) process for new and existing projects in the Utility Area.
  • Create and implement operating procedures for new processes related to the new and existing equipment.
  • Act as the La Porte site technical contact with water treatment contracts, participating in periodic meetings for site and business reviews which track performance against the contract and provide reviews of improvement initiatives.
  • Implement all Technology Improvements and participate in Technical Exchange Meetings (Internal and External).
  • Provide technical guidance for the La Porte site regarding utility consumptions and eco-metrics identifying opportunities and technologies to drive improvements.
  • Develop FEL 1 and 2 for Investment Projects and support the remaining gates (FEL3, PDP) including commissioning, training and start up. Participates in reviews of designs for Investment Projects prepared by outside contractors, vendors, fabricators, and manufacturers. Work closely with Automation to prepare all process control descriptions for improvements or new investment projects.
  • Participate in root cause analysis studies to resolve plant process and equipment related issues and any near misses.
  • Participate/facilitate in LOPA/PHA studies, develop action plan and resolve, PHA action items, evaluate plant risk scenarios and their protection and mitigation barriers, develop/maintain site Barrier and SCAI’s components.
  • Responsible for review and resolution of action item closure from HES, ISO, Insurance audits, and PHA studies.
Desired Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years prior experience in Utility Operations (water treatment, Steam generation, wastewater, sanitary, and compressed air systems).
  • Detailed knowledge of one or more of the following technologies preferred: Ion Exchange, Reverse Osmosis, Clarification, or various water filtration processes
  • Knowledge of API codes and OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) individual areas.
  • PHA leader certified preferred, LOPA analysis knowledge preferred.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation and controls is beneficial, but not crucial
  • Knowledge of process simulation software such as Aspen Plus
