Software Development Engineer III
Our team is looking for a Software Development Engineer III for our Tax and Regulatory Platforms. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to build the Global Tax Platform and Unified Regulatory Platform for the travel industry. These highly resilient systems must scale to process entire Expedia Group’s business transactions in time while adapting to ever-changing regulations in markets around the world. They power the complete transaction lifecycles, from shopping through booking, invoicing, accounting, filing, reporting, etc. And they must do these while providing financial-grade accuracy and robust reporting and audit trails.
This is an opportunity to take a pivotal role in building the travel industry’s premier commerce and financial platforms. You will have the opportunity to design and implement our APIs, data streams, real-time compute, and data lake storage at scale. As an engineer in the team, you will need to push the boundaries of cloud technologies. From Kafka, Kubernetes, or gRPC to Apache Spark and Flink, we’re always looking for the right technology to scale our solutions. We need your expertise to build for the long-term, with a focus on design patterns, re-use, and robust engineering practices including CI/CD.
What you will do:
Work in small, agile teams to design, develop, test, and maintain services
Build cloud-native streaming data, real-time processing, and data lake platforms at scale
Guide your team in good design practices, and find opportunities to simplify and scale
Review pull requests, and lead by example on code refactoring for readability, extensibility, and testability
Ensure all software meets the highest standards of performance, security, and scalability
Leverage CI/CD techniques and tools to maximize delivery speed and reliability
Who you are:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field or equivalent related professional experience
4+ years of relevant professional experience
Experienced software developer with excellent system design, problem solving, and object-oriented coding skills
Experience developing in cloud environments. Preferred: AWS, Containerization/Kubernetes, Data Lakes/Hive
Background in e-commerce solutions or similar transactional processing systems: Experience delivering and supporting highly available and scalable solutions with large transaction volume on a 24x7 operational cycle
Excellent teamwork and communication skills
Experience with DataDog, Splunk, or other application monitoring tools
Experience building CI/CD pipelines: Experience developing in cloud environments. Preferred: AWS, Containerization/Kubernetes, Data Lakes/Hive
Passionate about learning new things and sharing knowledge with others
The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.
Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
