Quality Control Inspector

What You'll Do

• Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections of structural steel products.
• Conduct weld inspections in accordance with AWS D1.1 (Structural Welding – Steel) and D1.5 (Bridge Welding Code).
• Verify welder qualifications and welding procedure specifications (WPS/PQR).
• Ensure correct interpretation of fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and GD&T.
• Confirm material traceability and documentation for incoming and outgoing parts.
• Identify, document, and assist in resolving non-conformances and quality issues.
• Oversee and/or support NDT methods such as VT, MT, PT, and UT.
• Participate in AISC QC audits and maintain compliance with ISO 9001 standards.
• Maintain inspection equipment and calibration records.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities for process optimization.

What You Bring

• Minimum 5–10 years of experience in structural steel inspection and fabrication.
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1, D1.5, and AISC standards.
• Familiarity with CWI certification (preferred but not required).
• Experience with inspection tools including CMM, Faro Arm, and hardness testing.
• Proficiency in reading complex blueprints and weld symbols.
• Understanding of ERP systems (e.g., Global Shop) and MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience participating in AISC audits or quality system reviews.
• Hands-on NDT background with certifications or relevant training.
