Requirements
- A Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related field is preferred.
- A minimum of two to three years of experience in child and family services, foster care, or adoption.
- Bilingual English and Spanish is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience with database platforms and entering case notes.
- Strong oral and written communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
- Ability to multitask, execute effectively, follow through thoroughly, and maintain attention to detail.
- Culturally respectful and informed practice with appreciation for the diversity of family types and structures.
- Located in New York City, including Brooklyn, Manhattan, Staten Island, the Bronx, or Queens.
Responsibilities
- Recruit clients for Spence-Chapin's Domestic Adoption Program, including women who are pregnant or recently gave birth who need options counseling services.
- Strengthen existing relationships and build new relationships with relevant healthcare and social service organizations.
- Solicit, book, and conduct training about Spence-Chapin's services for relevant professionals and organizations.
- Educate local schools, religious organizations, and social service providers about Spence-Chapin's services and adoption programs, and collect information and data as instructed to improve outreach efforts.
- Build new relationships with healthcare and social service organizations through emails, direct mail, site visits, community events, and in-service presentations.
- Support the development and implementation of an outreach strategy to reach women and couples in need of pregnancy options counseling.
- Facilitate introductions to relevant individuals and organizations that can help advance Spence-Chapin adoption services in New York City.
- Identify and perform outreach to programs related to parenting, adoption, and pregnancy in New York State, including hospitals, women's health clinics, social service organizations, and schools, whose clientele may benefit from Spence-Chapin services.
