Requirements
  • A current New Hampshire Registered Nurse license is required.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Basic dysrhythmia knowledge is preferred or must be obtained before completing orientation.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute training is preferred or must be obtained before completing orientation.
  • A graduate of an approved Nursing program is preferred.
  • A dysrhythmia course must be completed before orientation ends for telemetry-based departments.
  • Current nursing licensure and department-required certifications must be maintained.
Responsibilities
  • Render professional nursing care to patients within an assigned hospital unit and carry out orders from the responsible provider.
  • Provide comprehensive clinical documentation, including care plans each shift.
  • Communicate patient information for continuity and safe care through bedside shift reports, multidisciplinary rounds, and hourly rounding using AIDET.
  • Complete unit-specific competencies, requirements, and assigned net learning modules within the required timeframes.
  • Promote a culture of well-being, including reducing alarm fatigue, and maintain a positive department atmosphere.
  • Provide a safe and secure environment by following established procedures and protocols.
  • Identify and help correct patient-care safety issues, report errors, and promote safe practices within the Just Culture environment.
  • Address issues through the appropriate chain of command and participate in daily unit-based safety huddles.
  • Maintain knowledge of the organization's strategic plan and unit-based nurse-sensitive indicators, including CAUTI, CLABSI, C. difficile, HAPU, falls, hand hygiene, and VAE.
  • Participate in quality initiatives and performance-improvement activities to improve patient outcomes.
  • Collaborate with nurses in other departments and assist team members when opportunities arise.
  • Develop and implement performance goals based on self-assessment and feedback.
  • Ensure patient-education materials are culturally competent.
  • Serve as a preceptor for new nurses.
  • Participate in DNV survey readiness and shared-governance activities.
  • Assist with identifying solutions to problems and conflicts.
  • Delegate aspects of care and unit activities to other nursing personnel.
  • Collaborate in planning, supervising, and instructing other nurses and assistants.
  • Work collaboratively with nursing students and instructors.
  • Participate in the peer-feedback process for annual reviews and the employee-engagement survey.
  • Manage Earned Time Off use according to policy and avoid unauthorized overtime.
  • For Occupational Health, enter laboratory, X-ray, EKG, and other testing orders according to protocol; follow up on ordered labs and tests; and document point-of-care tests after completion.
