Requirements
  • High school graduation, six months of general experience, or enrollment as a student technician in an approved nationally accredited pharmacy technician program is required.
  • Basic life support certification is required.
  • The role requires the ability to communicate through writing, reading, mathematics, hearing, and comprehensive speech skills.
  • The role requires frequent walking, standing, sitting, reaching, manual and fine dexterity, grasping, and close-distance hearing.
  • The role requires occasional bending, twisting, crawling, kneeling, squatting, and the ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
  • Near and far vision are required to visualize computer screens, review documents, and assist patients and healthcare team members.
  • The role requires the ability to multitask, remain flexible, work effectively alone, take initiative, handle stressful situations, solve problems, make decisions, and manage difficult situations.
  • The role may involve exposure to fumes, airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, hazardous materials including needle punctures, blood and body fluids, and hazardous drugs.
Responsibilities
  • Support pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications while maintaining accuracy, safety, and efficiency.
  • Manage inventory, process prescriptions, and provide service to patients and clinical teams.
  • Count and package prescriptions, answer phone calls, and mail prescriptions.
  • Perform routine pharmacy duties under the direct supervision of higher-level technicians and pharmacists while learning basic pharmacy operations.
  • Complete assigned tasks according to established protocols and accepted pharmaceutical practices.
  • Provide customers with consistent information according to established policies and procedures.
  • Handle customer conflicts and problems constructively and appropriately.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, physicians, patients, families, employees, vendors, regulatory agencies, and other provider organizations.
