Requirements
  • Law students (currently enrolled) with an interest in civil rights litigation and advocacy
  • Ability to participate in a full semester internship or part-time internship with a minimum of 15 hours per week
  • Availability for Fall 2026 and rolling applications, with applications reviewed on an ongoing basis
  • Ability to receive school credit for fall or spring internships if unpaid
  • Ability to secure external funding if stipends are not provided for summer internships
  • Eligible to participate in in-person and remote work arrangements
Responsibilities
  • Creating equal opportunity to economic stability for individuals and families
  • Challenging the conditions that force racial and economic segregation and that limit options for safe, decent and affordable housing based on race and national origin
  • Reducing barriers to public services and public accommodations
  • Creating equal opportunity for an education
  • Advocating on behalf of DC prisoners and reducing the impact of an unfair criminal system
  • Factual and legal research
  • Drafting memos or pleadings
  • Other work supporting the Committee's litigation and advocacy agenda
  • Participating in case/issue area check-ins and strategy sessions
