Requirements
  • At least 2 years of experience building and shipping Android applications used by real users in production environments.
  • Good understanding of Android development using Kotlin, along with modern Android development practices and frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of modern Android UI development using Jetpack Compose, including building responsive and scalable UI components, managing UI state, and following modern Android architecture and design patterns.
  • Experience building features that interact with REST APIs and backend services.
  • Deep understanding of Android app performance, crash debugging, and improving app stability and reliability.
  • Demonstrated fluency with modern artificial-intelligence-assisted development workflows and a point of view on their effectiveness for various use cases.
  • Clear, structured written and verbal communication, with the ability to operate effectively in an asynchronous environment.
  • Understanding of web fundamentals, data modeling, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to apply proven design patterns to build modular, scalable solutions with security, performance, and observability incorporated from the outset.

Responsibilities
  • Build and improve features for the Branch Android application to create smooth, reliable, and user-friendly mobile experiences.
  • Work closely with backend teams to integrate application programming interfaces and support new product features.
  • Improve application performance, stability, and user experience by fixing issues, reducing crashes, and increasing reliability.
  • Work with Product Managers, Designers, and other engineers to understand requirements and deliver features end to end.
  • Support integrations with third-party services such as payments, authentication systems, analytics, and marketing services.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and team collaboration activities.
  • Take ownership of features and projects from development through release and ensure smooth rollouts to users.
  • Contribute to code quality, testing, and maintainability of the Android codebase.
  • Research solutions, seek peer opinions, and balance technical excellence with business and consumer needs.
  • Navigate and evolve existing architectures with care and peer feedback.
  • Break down ambiguous projects into granular, estimable tasks that can be delegated effectively.
  • Consider the effects of technical decisions on users, the business, and future team velocity.
  • Proactively automate mundane work and take accountability for final implementations.
  • Own testing, monitoring, documentation, and post-release reliability of shipped code.
