- Prior law enforcement, military, corrections, customer service, or security experience, including two years of customer service or security experience where applicable.
- A valid state license where applicable.
- At least 21 years of age and a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug test.
- Ability to operate access control systems, use computers for incident reports, navigate security software systems or applications, and use email.
- Strong customer service skills, a professional demeanor and appearance, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and perform radio and telephone communications in a medium- to high-pressure environment with changing or competing demands.
- Familiarity with report writing.
- Excellent surveillance and observation skills.
- Above-average written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills when interacting with client staff and the public.
- Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time.
- Deter criminal activity and misconduct.
- Respond to alarms, calls of distress, and emergencies such as fires, injuries, or unauthorized persons by contacting police, fire departments, or local emergency response teams.
- Conduct periodic patrols to identify unsafe conditions, hazards, unlocked doors, security violations, blocked entrances and exits, mechanical problems, and unauthorized persons.
- Prepare clear, concise, and accurate reports.
- Operate access control systems, use computers for incident reports, navigate security software systems or applications, and use email.
- Provide customer service while maintaining a professional demeanor and appearance.
- Perform assigned duties determined by the security supervisor.
- Training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
