Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or other relevant field required
  • Eight (8) or more years of prior experience
  • Industry expertise in one or more tax specialty
  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook)
  • Experience with tax research databases such as Business and Industry Research Application (BNA) and RIA Pro, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in tax compliance process software including GoFileRoom, GoSystemRS, Caseware, BNA Depreciation Software, or comparable programs and standard tax workpapers
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to effectively delegate work as needed
  • Strong analytical, research and critical thinking skills as well as decision-making skills
  • Capacity to work well in a team environment
  • Capable of developing and managing a team of tax professionals
  • Ability to compose written tax advice
  • Capable of effectively developing and maintaining client relationships
  • Executive presence and ability to act as primary client contact for preparation and presentation of issues and resolutions to clients
Responsibilities
  • Manage engagements to achieve engagement management metrics
  • Practice hands-on client service delivery
  • Be responsible for overall client service by encouraging team’s adherence to Tax Quality Manual policies including engagement letters and documentation
  • Identify when research is needed and clearly and concisely frame issues for research and report the analysis
  • Identify complex issues to be researched by engagement team and provide research methodology
  • Serve as technical reviewer of tax workpapers applicable to area of expertise
  • Assist with developing, recommending, and implementing efficient and effective methods to maximize client benefits and reduce current and future taxes
  • Apply expert knowledge of tax and business to recommend solutions and maximize results in the Firm
  • Develop an in-depth understanding of taxation areas and advise clients on implications and alternative courses of action
  • Present complex strategies to clients and prospective clients as required
  • Supervise associates, senior associates and managers as situation dictates
  • Review work prepared by associates and senior associates and provide review comments
  • Act as a Career Advisor to associates, senior associates and managers
  • Schedule and manage workload of associates, senior associates and managers
  • Provide verbal and written performance feedback to associates, senior associates and managers
  • Provide client service and ensure adherence to firm policies and quality standards
Desired Qualifications
  • Big four or large regional firm experience such as McGladrey or Grant Thornton
  • CPA certification preferred
  • Master's degree in Accounting preferred or Master's degree in Taxation preferred
  • Experience with GoFileRoom and GoSystemRS is listed as requirement but also could be desirable; keep as desirable items if necessary
  • Experience with tax credits and incentives, international, transfer pricing, or expatriate taxation expertise could be considered desirable
