Requirements
  • Hands-on background in security engineering or research, including artificial intelligence security, threat detection, cloud security, vulnerability research, or large-scale telemetry systems.
  • Deep understanding of at least one security domain at production scale, including its internals, failure modes, and practical constraints.
  • A track record demonstrated through shipped systems, published research, Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, open-source contributions, or conference presentations.
  • Intrinsic motivation to understand emerging artificial intelligence capabilities and translate them into practical security applications.
  • Ability to operate at the frontier of artificial intelligence, distinguishing real capabilities, hype, and genuinely novel developments.
  • Experience proactively exploring adjacent domains such as offensive security, machine learning research, and systems architecture, and synthesizing insights across them.
  • Production experience with large language model or small language model integration, agentic workflow design, or multi-model systems.
  • Ability to reason about the full agentic stack, including planning, tool use, memory, orchestration, and human oversight.
  • Understanding of inference trade-offs, including latency, privacy, accuracy, and evasion resistance, and how they interact with security-system requirements.
  • Familiarity with failure modes specific to agentic systems in adversarial environments.
  • Ability to challenge unsound architecture independently and represent engineering truth despite schedule pressure, demonstration quality, or seniority.
  • Ability to serve as a neutral technical voice when other stakeholders have delivery interests.
  • Ability to build credibility through the quality of analysis rather than authority.
Responsibilities
  • Own the architectural vision for artificial intelligence integration in the relevant security domain, covering on-device inference, cloud-assisted pipelines, and fully agentic decision workflows.
  • Design artificial-intelligence-native systems from the ground up rather than adding layers to existing architectures.
  • Define trade-off frameworks for artificial intelligence capabilities within production constraints such as latency, resource budgets, accuracy, evasion resistance, and platform-specific requirements.
  • Assess artificial intelligence feature proposals for architectural soundness, data-dependency risks, and long-term maintainability.
  • Identify artificial intelligence architecture opportunities created by consolidation or modernization efforts and identify compounding risks they introduce.
  • Design the boundary between autonomous artificial intelligence decision-making and human expert judgment in critical security workflows.
  • Architect multi-agent systems and agentic pipelines for high-stakes security environments, including tool use, orchestration, memory, and guardrails.
  • Analyze failure modes in agentic systems, including hallucination under adversarial input, over-automation, cascading errors, and loss of human oversight.
  • Track agentic artificial intelligence research and translate emerging capabilities into concrete architecture proposals.
  • Drive the technical direction of key artificial intelligence product initiatives from early concept through architecture validation and implementation.
  • Lead the technical case-making for strategic initiatives by structuring problems, defining evaluation criteria, pressure-testing design options, and building decision-making artifacts.
  • Prototype where needed, review implementations against architectural intent, and course-correct when execution drifts from the design.
  • Collaborate with product, engineering, and research leads to translate strategic bets into technically grounded roadmaps with clear dependencies and risk profiles.
  • Maintain the technical bar on critical initiatives by challenging shortcuts, identifying fundamentally unsound directions, and proposing rigorous, achievable alternatives.
  • Define meaningful artificial intelligence adoption for engineering and research teams across workflow integration and architectural thinking.
  • Identify engineers and teams advancing artificial-intelligence-native development and help systematize their practices.
  • Build evaluation frameworks that engineering leadership can act on.
  • Advise on artificial intelligence tooling that accelerates work and flag where artificial intelligence introduces risk rather than leverage.
  • Represent research and development at relevant security and artificial intelligence venues as credibility develops.
  • Present at the company's global platforms for enterprise security leaders and C-suite audiences as the internal platform grows.
  • Engage with enterprise customers in Executive Briefing Center settings, translating complex artificial intelligence architecture decisions into business-relevant narratives.
  • Contribute to external discourse through technical blog posts, conference presentations, and original research.
  • Engage with MITRE ATLAS, OWASP, and relevant standards bodies to help shape industry-wide artificial intelligence security practices.
  • Operate over time as a technical peer to chief technology officer- and chief information security officer-level counterparts at strategic partners and enterprise customers.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with adversarial machine learning, artificial intelligence red-teaming, or artificial intelligence system threat modeling.
  • Familiarity with artificial intelligence security product development, including artificial intelligence supply chain risk, model integrity, prompt injection defense, or agentic system guardrails.
  • Prior work at or collaboration with TrendLabs, Zero Day Initiative, or equivalent threat research organizations.
  • Published Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures, conference papers, or open-source security tooling.
  • Background spanning both offensive security and artificial intelligence or machine learning systems.
  • Experience with large-scale security telemetry, extended detection and response correlation, or cloud-native security architectures.
  • Experience speaking at, publishing in, or contributing to recognized security or artificial intelligence venues.
  • Recognition, or a clear trajectory toward recognition, as a technical voice in the field.

Trend Micro reports highest-ever $1.9B revenue for FY 2025, driven by 58% platform ARR growth

Trend Micro has reported record quarterly and annual results for 2025, with fiscal year net revenue reaching ¥276 billion and operating income of ¥58 billion. The cybersecurity company posted 5% year-over-year net sales growth in Q4 and 1% for the full year. Total company annual recurring revenue grew to $1.7 billion, with large enterprise platform ARR increasing 58% year-over-year to $467 million. The enterprise business saw 8% net sales growth in Q4, adding 1,000 new platform customers in 2025. The consumer business experienced 11% sales growth in Q4, driven by strong adoption of its ScamCheck product, which saw downloads increase 107%. However, previous payment processing issues led to a 9% decline in consumer net sales for the full year. For 2026, Trend Micro expects consolidated net sales of ¥301.5 billion.
