Our global tax controversy team serves a central part in the success of our business. We are seeking an Analyst or Senior Analyst of Global Controversy, reporting to the Senior Manager, Global Tax Controversy. The ideal candidate will have subject matter experience in U.S. tax law and procedure. Experience with tax litigation is a plus, as is experience with transfer pricing or foreign tax controversies (including experience in competent authority negotiations), but there will be significant opportunities to gain knowledge and exposure to foreign tax law and procedure over time.

In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating our responses in federal audits in the U.S., working with colleagues around the world on foreign audits, and researching legal and tax issues. You will also be involved in developing tax controversy strategies, and communicating and collaborating with cross-functional business partners with varying backgrounds and levels of experience. A successful candidate will be highly organized, capable of analyzing complex substantive and procedural tax questions, and able to communicate effectively with tax authority representatives as well as internal stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Research complex tax issues, prepare technical documentation and assist on special projects and provide assistance, as needed.
Support the day-to-day operations of U.S. federal income tax audits, resolution procedures, and litigation.
Review and coordinate the response to Information Document Requests and Requests For Information from taxing authorities.
Interact with tax colleagues on a regular basis to understand, discuss, and assist in bringing resolution to complex tax issues.
Assist in the maintenance of tools to track and quantify audit positions around the world and global tax risk.
Ensure complete and timely flow of information and resolution of tax audits.
Coordinate with subject matter experts (SMEs) as well as conduct research on a broad range of US, international and transfer pricing tax matters to support positions taken on tax returns.
Administratively support global tax controversy matters.

Qualifications

Juris Doctor (preferred) or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
5+ years of relevant experience at a law firm, public accounting firm or corporate tax department, or a combination of graduate education and work experience (e.g., a JD plus 3 years at a law firm).
Experience with U.S. controversy matters, including audits.
Experience with any of the IRS Independent Office of Appeals, competent authority (APAs or MAPs), or filed litigation is a plus, as is experience with foreign tax controversies.
Ability to juggle multiple projects and produce high-quality work product in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Solid understanding of fundamental U.S. and international corporate income tax.
Appreciation of indirect tax, employment tax, and property tax concepts.
Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact cross-functionally and with external advisors.
