Requirements
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Transportation, Business Administration, or a similar field.
  • At least 5 years of related consulting experience on railway projects, with a focus on rail strategic transportation planning, urban planning, operations planning, route management, or similar areas.
  • Outstanding analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently, quickly grasp new concepts, and effectively produce results.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word, to perform analyses and develop quantitative models.
  • Passion for tackling complex challenges in the mobility and railway transportation sector.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods of up to 4 hours at a time.
  • Ability to speak on the telephone for a total of up to 3 hours per day.
  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours without breaks at meetings.
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 4 hours without breaks at program site visits and meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Transform client requirements into effective and efficient operational plans.
  • Oversee and ensure the quality of technical work produced under the role's direction by analysts and consultants on projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Perform research and quantitative analyses, conduct and coordinate studies, and lead workshops.
  • Present project results to senior management.
  • Prepare proposals and pursuits, including project methodologies, budgets, and schedules.
  • Leverage the knowledge and expertise of Deutsche Bahn railway subject matter experts in other consulting projects where applicable.
  • Work on-site 5 days per week during onboarding and transition to a hybrid work arrangement after onboarding.
  • Travel overnight minimally by land and air.
Desired Qualifications
  • Proficiency using the dynamic rail simulation tool Rail Traffic Controller (RTC).
  • Background in passenger and/or freight rail service planning.
  • Background in railroad civil engineering.
