Responsibilities
  • Perform comprehensive nursing assessments upon admission and throughout the client's stay, including vital signs and medical screenings.
  • Monitor for signs of withdrawal using standardized protocols such as CIWA-Ar and COWS.
  • Administer prescribed medications, including psychotropics, medication for opioid use disorder, and withdrawal-management medications.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists and nurse practitioners on medication orders and reconciliation.
  • Provide health education to clients and families on medication management, harm reduction, and overdose prevention.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and monitor clients for signs of medical decompensation or suicidality.
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical records in the Electronic Health Record, Avatar, including the medication administration record and nursing notes.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and case conferences to coordinate crisis intervention and safety planning.
  • Support infection control and environment-of-care requirements to ensure a safe clinical setting.
  • Provide clinical direction to LPNs and medical assistants to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Follow agency policies and protocols.
