Requirements
  • At least 5 years of programming experience with programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and supervisory control and data acquisition applications.
  • A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of industrial control systems, motor control, and field instrumentation.
  • High proficiency in creating complete programmable logic controller programs using RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, and the Rockwell portfolio suite.
  • Experience with human-machine interface and supervisory control and data acquisition screens, preferably using Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or Wonderware.
  • Working knowledge of the Ethernet/IP industrial communication protocol.
  • Knowledge of scripting languages and databases.
  • Time-management skills and the ability to meet deadlines.
  • Proven communication, organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work occasional start-ups that may include extended working hours.
  • Ability to meet the physical requirements of the role, including sitting, standing, kneeling, stooping, walking, climbing ladders and stairs, lifting and carrying up to 20 pounds, and periodically working in noisy and dirty environments.
  • Authorization to work in the United States, verified through the federal Form I-9 and E-Verify process.
Responsibilities
  • Technically lead automation projects from conception to completion while ensuring adherence to timelines and budgetary constraints.
  • Design industrial control systems, including control panels, networks, and field-device specifications.
  • Interpret P&IDs, process flows, specifications, and other system-design documentation as the basis for control-system design and programming.
  • Create I/O lists, specifications, test procedures, FDS manuals, and other project documentation.
  • Create and document control-system programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and supervisory control and data acquisition programs using modular and reusable programming techniques.
  • Configure and program managed Ethernet switches, protocol converters, variable-frequency drives, and other control-system devices.
  • Provide on-site control-system start-up and commissioning.
  • Assist technicians with field modifications.
  • Participate in client meetings to define scope and functional and operational requirements for programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and supervisory control and data acquisition systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to field technicians on programmable logic controller, human-machine interface, and supervisory control and data acquisition programs.
  • Troubleshoot, test, and analyze existing project-program errors and revise programs to operational order.
  • Work independently and as part of a team on multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, vendors, and internal teams.
  • Provide technical presentations and support sound technical solutions to complex problems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with Step 7 and TIA Portal.
  • Experience with Modbus TCP, Modbus Serial, Profibus, Profinet, ControlNet, Ethernet, and DeviceNet.
  • Experience with Ignition, FactoryTalk View, or Wonderware for human-machine interface and supervisory control and data acquisition screens.
  • Ability to develop professionally through direct mentorship and personally sourced academic study.
  • Awareness of industry best practices and emerging technological developments.
