Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • One to three years of hands-on experience working in an end-user desktop support role or computer operations environment is required.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2007 through 2016 is required.
  • Knowledge of Windows Vista, XP, 7, 8, and 10 is required.
  • Knowledge of Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012 is required.
  • Experience with remote desktop support and mobile devices is required.
  • Knowledge of Active Directory and Exchange is required.
  • Advanced printer and peripheral-device troubleshooting skills are required.
  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, and DHCP is required.
  • Excellent communication and customer-service skills are required.
  • Enterprise client/server support experience is required.
  • Experience installing and maintaining Mac and PC operating systems and software applications, including Windows 7, Windows 8.x, Windows 10, Microsoft O365, Mac OS 10.x, and Adobe Creative Cloud, is required.
  • Experience troubleshooting the physical layer of WLAN 802.11x and LAN environments, including DNS, switches, gateways, and TCP/IP versions 4 and 6, is required.
  • Experience supporting distributed hardware peripherals such as printers, scanners, and webcams is required.
  • The ability to multitask in a dynamic, fast-paced, high-stress environment is required.
Responsibilities
  • Provide customer service in person, by phone, and by email as appropriate.
  • Resolve help desk issues by troubleshooting hardware and software problems.
  • Receive and create help desk incidents and requests.
  • Manage ticket queues and escalate incidents and requests to appropriate technical teams.
  • Support university students, staff, and faculty accessing online classrooms, email, and the university portal.
  • Provide first-level support to faculty, staff, and students in Windows and Mac OS environments.
  • Install and maintain PC and printer hardware and software, perform routine maintenance, and apply vendor software updates.
  • Provide support to remote locations and escalate issues to appropriate departments, technical resources, or vendors.
  • Set up classrooms and meeting rooms for videoconferencing.
  • Provide Level 1 phone support and escalate calls in a timely manner.
  • Perform root cause analysis, develop checklists for typical problems, and recommend procedures and controls for problem prevention.
  • Support desktops, laptops, mobile devices, and videoconferencing equipment.
Desired Qualifications
  • An Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree in a technical discipline is a plus.
  • Information Technology Fundamentals, CompTIA A+, or a greater vendor-specific certification is preferred.
  • Experience setting up Polycom bridges is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Crestron systems is a plus.
  • Experience adapting to new and emerging technologies is desirable.
