Requirements
  • Strong full-stack engineering foundation, including systems thinking, debugging, architecture, and the ability to reason about code not written by the candidate.
  • Deep experience with TypeScript across both frontend and backend development.
  • A track record of shipping and owning large, user-facing features in production web applications.
  • Comfort working directly with relational databases such as Postgres.
  • A product mindset focused on cohesive experiences for real users.
  • Proficiency with AI coding tools as part of the daily workflow.
  • Proactive, self-directed communication, including managing time, meeting deadlines, and flagging blockers early.
Responsibilities
  • Take major features from concept to shipment, including scoping, architecture, implementation, and rollout.
  • Own whole product areas end to end, including institution administration, faculty tools for configuring AI assistants, or the student-facing product.
  • Partner with product and design to turn ambiguous customer needs into concrete, shippable products.
  • Ship features end to end in TypeScript across the client, server, and database.
  • Build and extend integrations connecting Nectir to systems used by educational institutions.

  • Improve code quality, test coverage, and architectural clarity.
  • Partner with DevOps on deployment, observability, and incident response.
  • Use AI coding tools as a daily part of development.
  • Scope work so AI agents handle appropriate tasks while the engineer owns tasks they cannot handle.
  • Collaborate on AI-facing product features alongside AI engineering when those features cross into the platform.
  • Mentor teammates, review code, and strengthen engineering culture.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions as the platform scales.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with modern full-stack React frameworks and server-rendered user interfaces.
  • Experience integrating with learning management system platforms or Learning Tools Interoperability.
  • Familiarity with background workers and durable job processing.
  • A track record outside of day jobs, such as starting a company, maintaining an open-source project, or continuously shipping side projects.
  • Deep curiosity about artificial intelligence or a strong interest in education.
