Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Certification as a Clinical Engineer (CCE)
  • Minimum of three years of hospital or healthcare experience maintaining medical equipment or managing a hospital medical equipment program
  • Knowledge of computer-based medical systems, networking protocols, information security, and healthcare standards and regulations
  • Experience within a medical center and Biomedical Engineering department or working in or with the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) or understanding of VISN, VA medical center, and Biomedical Engineering department operations
  • Ability to develop and implement a medical equipment management program compliant with healthcare standards and regulatory agencies
  • Skill in project management principles for deployment of medical equipment and health information technologies
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate with key stakeholders
  • Understanding of regulatory agencies’ requirements, industry regulatory standards, and International Standard Organization (ISO) standards
Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive medical equipment management program
  • Create and deliver a curriculum for a continuing education program on medical technology
  • Manage a recall and safety alert program for medical devices
  • Lead capital asset and infrastructure planning for medical equipment
  • Provide direct support for specialized clinical technology in biomedical engineering
  • Advise clinical and administrative staff on medical technology
  • Stay updated on regulatory agencies' requirements and standards
