Requirements
  • Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree.
  • Education must be obtained through an ACGME or AOA accredited institution. Degree will be verified.
  • ABMS or equivalent AOA Board Certification in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. Active Utah or Idaho Medical Licensure, or in process of obtaining licensure.
  • Three years of clinical experience working as an Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery surgeon.
  • Two years of experience leading successful improvement in clinical settings.
  • Two years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
  • Experience with change management with the ability to provide leadership in the adaptation and implementation of new processes or technology that enhance safety.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Responsibilities
  • The direct supervising physician leader for all medical group Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgeons in the region.
  • Provider leadership and organization to the Otolaryngology community, including affiliated surgeons and providers, to create a culture of excellence that sets the standard in Otolaryngology care.
  • Collaborate with the Medical Directors of the Peaks and Desert regions to help coordinate Otolaryngology care across the Enterprise.
  • Provide leadership and subject matter expertise for Otolaryngology operational issues in the clinics, hospitals, operating rooms, and assorted sites of service.
  • Leads physician and advanced practice provider collaborations and coordination of a team-based approach in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Provide oversight, guidance, and leadership to the APP that practice in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
  • Develops, communicates, and drives top decile performance on key performance metrics in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (e.g., patient experience, Vizient metrics, financial metrics, documentation metrics, complication rates) in partnership with Clinical Programs, Intermountain Physician Advisory Services (IPAS) and other enterprise organizations.
  • Partner with Clinical Programs and lead the process to establish clinical best practice in Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and ensures these standards are implemented, monitored, and maintained.
  • Partner with Clinical Programs to create proactive care models for patients and improve the value of Otolaryngologic care provided in the region.
  • Consult and provide subject matter expertise to the SSDH Value Analysis Team (SSDH VAT) concerning supplies, equipment, and capital costs to help optimize expenditure while optimizing the quality of care.
  • Provide the subject matter expertise for the strategic growth of Otolaryngology in the regions across all its hospital, clinics, and ASCs.
  • Maintain a strong communication process with Physicians and APPs, such as the current Monthly Otolaryngology meetings, to regularly informs and connects Otolaryngology-Head and Neck providers across the region.
  • Develop, review, and modify contracting details for the Intermountain Medical Group in Otolaryngology and provide the subject matter expertise needed for strategic growth across the hospitals, markets, and region.
  • Direct the recruitment of candidates, help in the coordination and evaluation of applicants, and drives the onboarding of new team members to ensure and foster membership in the Otolaryngology community at Intermountain.
  • Align and communicate with hospital and regional leadership to coordinate Otolaryngology care acres the region and help develop the strategy as the health care delivery landscape continues to develop.
  • Serve as the regional and enterprise resource as a subject matter expert and assist in provider performance concerns, peer review, Select Health Policy reviews.
  • Supports appropriate research endeavors for Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery to publish and socialize the outstanding work achieved at Intermountain Region.
