Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Master’s degree program
  • Current NYS licensure, Board Certified, and DEA registration
  • Possess or obtain a National Provider Identifier (NPI) issued by the US Center for Medicaid and Medicare services
  • Excellent verbal, writing, and interpersonal skills

Responsibilities
  • Works in collaboration with the Director of the Movement Disorders Division, physician faculty, clinical nurses, clinical research staff and other health care providers to deliver quality care to patients with movement disorder care needs
  • Applies knowledge of anatomy, principles of neuroanatomical localization, neurophysiology, psychology, human disabilities, pharmacology, gerontology and medical terminology as appropriate in the care setting and as appropriate for level of medical licensure
  • Receives additional training in the identification of parkinsonism and hyperkinetic movement disorders based on clinical phenomenology
  • Conducts patient assessments including complete history and physical examinations, applies appropriate clinical scales, collects clinical data including vital signs, prepares patients for tests, therapy, or treatments; orders and interprets medical laboratory test results
  • Works within a multidisciplinary team including physicians, physical and occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, and case managers
  • Participates in regular educational opportunities within the Department of Neurology and the Division of Movement Disorders
