Requirements
  • A high school degree or GED is required.
  • The candidate must be at least 21 years of age.
  • The candidate must have at least one year of experience in project management or a similar supervisory role.
  • The candidate must complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification training upon hire.
  • The candidate must complete required drug and alcohol testing, including applicable federal Department of Transportation testing for gas meter work.
  • The role requires the ability to multitask and work independently and as part of a team.
  • The role requires leadership and team-management ability.
  • The role requires flexibility in daily routines and route scheduling.
  • The role requires project management skills and an understanding of industry standards.
  • The role requires time-management, communication, customer-service, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
  • The role requires the ability to walk long distances and prepare for varying weather conditions.
Responsibilities
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues while ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Partner with customers, managers, utility personnel, and other personnel through ongoing communication, cooperative problem management, and feedback on goal achievement or obstacles.
  • Work with the Manager and other leaders to identify inefficiencies and opportunities for cost reduction.
  • Explain and demonstrate work tasks to new workers or assign training tasks to experienced workers.
  • Recommend and implement personnel actions, including employee selection, evaluation, rewards, and disciplinary actions.
  • Recommend and implement measures to improve worker motivation, equipment performance, work methods, and customer service.
  • Requisition needed personnel, supplies, equipment, parts, and repair services.
  • Drive vehicles or equipment to complete work assignments or assist workers.
  • Interpret transportation regulations, safety regulations, and company policies and procedures for workers.
  • Prepare, compile, and submit reports on work activities, operations, productivity, and work-related accidents.
  • Resolve worker problems or collaborate with employees to assist in problem resolution.
  • Perform or schedule repairs and preventive maintenance for vehicles and other equipment.
  • Assist workers with tasks such as reading daily meters and skips.
  • Walk and stand for much of the workday.
  • Work outside in various weather conditions when required.
  • Move objects using physical force, routinely up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds.
  • Handle customer inquiries or refer customer complaints to appropriate authorities.
  • Provide general information about meter services to customers.
  • Use telephones, tablets, and computers to communicate.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Two years of experience in smart metering supervision or a related field is preferred.
  • One year of continuous work with the same employer is preferred.
  • At least six months of outdoor work experience is preferred.
