  • Graduate of an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN, LVN)
  • Current appropriate State licensure
  • Successfully complete a training course in the theory and practice of hemodialysis
  • Successfully complete CPR Certification
  • Must complete the Nurses Technical Training Program upon hire or soon thereafter
  • Ability to provide coverage at area facilities during times of short-staffing or as required
  • The physical demands and work environment includes heavy lifting and moving of patients, frequent standing, ability to travel between facilities and various locations within the community, potential travel to regional, Business Unit and Corporate meetings

  • Assists with emergency operational procedures
  • Operates dialysis equipment safely and provide minor troubleshooting
  • Provide direct patient care for assigned patient(s) and perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures as prescribed
  • Administer and monitor treatments according to treatment plan
  • Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters and other patient record information
  • Report significant information or equipment problems to supervisor
  • Assist with teaching plan to educate patient and family about end stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet and medications
  • Participate in staff meetings and in short/long term care plan meetings
  • Acquire knowledge in dialysis principles and techniques via scheduled in-service classes
  • Act as resource person for other staff and coordinate care plan with Physician, Dietitian and Social Worker
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with FMCNA Compliance Program and regulatory requirements
  • Provide outstanding customer service to internal and external customers
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships through communication
  • Respond to customer service issues in a timely manner
Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care for assigned patient(s) and perform all technical aspects of dialysis procedures for assigned patients as prescribed. Administer and monitor treatments in accordance with current treatment plan or as directed by the supervisor.
  • Monitor and document dialysis treatment parameters on dialysis flow sheets and document other information related to patient care in the patient record.
  • Report any significant information, changes in patient condition, or equipment problems to the supervisor.
  • Assist in developing and following the teaching plan to educate the patient and family regarding end stage renal disease, dialysis therapy, diet and medications.
  • Assist with all emergency operational procedures.
  • Safely operate all dialysis related equipment according to proper procedures and provide minor troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean, safe and sanitary environment in the dialysis facility treatment area.
  • Address blood spills per Bloodborne Pathogen Control Policies.
  • Operate all emergency equipment effectively according to standard procedures.
  • Participate in staff meetings as scheduled and assist in care plan meetings.
  • Acquire knowledge in dialysis principles and technique via in-service classes; act as a resource for other staff; coordinate care plan with Physician, Dietitian and Social Worker
  • Other duties as assigned
Desired Qualifications
  • Hemodialysis experience preferred but not required
  • One year medical-surgical nursing experience preferred
  • ICU experience preferred
  • Any additional training or certification related to dialysis or patient care that is preferred
