Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Three years of coaching experience at the collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of intercollegiate athletics and the rules and regulations of athletic associations and conferences, including eligibility, recruiting, and certification.
  • A valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to objectively evaluate physical performance and mental capabilities related to the intercollegiate athletic program.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
  • Strong organizational, oral and written communication, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to protect confidential information and present a professional demeanor.
  • Ability to work effectively with an ethnic, cultural, and diverse student population.
  • Ability to organize and operate a competitive NCAA Division II intercollegiate golf program.
  • Ability to develop a plan for success.
  • Ability to identify and solve problems.
  • Ability to work without supervision and accomplish goals set forth by the administration and staff.
  • Public relations and promotion skills.
  • Knowledge of University and department policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of NCAA and GMAC rules and regulations, including recruiting, eligibility, and certification.
Responsibilities
  • Administer the intercollegiate program in compliance with University, NCAA, and GMAC rules and regulations.
  • Recommend and administer the specific sports budget.
  • Participate in public relations and promotion of the sports program.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and other staff as required.
  • Consult with campus agencies regarding eligibility, admission of student athletes, facilities, security, and financial aid.
  • Consult with student athletes regarding discipline, academic progress, and personal growth.
  • Coordinate physical conditioning and practice preparation.
  • Oversee practice sessions, pre-game preparations, and competition.
  • Evaluate prospective student-athletes and organize home visits and phone contacts with prospects and their families.
  • Perform fundraising duties through the Oilers Club.
  • Plan and organize all aspects of team travel.
  • Establish consistent guidelines and requirements for participation in lacrosse.
  • Report violations of compliance regulations.
  • Coach student athletes in game and practice situations.
  • Organize a competitive team representative of the University’s philosophy and mission.
  • Meet recruiting goals.
