Position Summary:
Orbital Therapeutics is seeking a highly motivated, collaborative, self-driven, and creative individual to join our Immunology team. This team member will work in a fast-paced and cross-functional start-up environment with the opportunity to coordinate in vitro and preclinical studies evaluating next generation therapeutics including RNA-based vaccines and immunomodulatory drugs, while also expanding platform capabilities of Orbital’s RNA and delivery patient-focused therapeutics.

Responsibilities:
- Work as part of a team plan, execute, and troubleshoot experiments that evaluate and characterize the impact of RNA delivery, protein expression, and other project-specific immunological readouts.
- Effectively execute experiments including in vitro and ex vivo readouts and novel molecular, biochemical, and cellular biology assays including flow cytometry, ELISA/Ella, immunoblotting and other techniques.
- Optimize and culture of primary and immortalized mammalian cells using various formats and conditions.
- Isolate human PBMCs and mouse cells.
- Perform data analysis and clearly communicate findings to the immunology team and key stakeholders within the company.
- Effectively plan and organize work activities to meet team goals and company timelines.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of experiments, protocols, and results in an electronic lab notebook and other technical reporting formats.
- Support cross-functional immunology team projects and contribute to lab organization.
- Crosstrain fellow researchers in lab-based activities.
Requirements:
- B.S. or M.S. in Immunology, Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Bioengineering or a closely related field.
- 0-3 years of hands-on wet-lab experience in academic or industry lab setting.
- Strong molecular biology and immunology experimental skillset, including experience executing protocols, troubleshooting assays, and interest in developing new protocols.
- Hands-on experience in mammalian immortalized/primary cell culture (e.g., maintaining cell lines, transfections, preparation of cell suspensions from tissues) under strict aseptic techniques.
- Experience with flow cytometry, ELISA/Ella, immunoblotting, and molecular biology techniques.
- Familiarity conducting primary literature searches.
- Familiarity with mouse dissections and tissue processing preferred.
- Scientifically rigorous and dependable team player with excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills.
- Detail-oriented and meticulous in experimental planning and electronic lab notebook documentation.
