Responsibilities
  • Develop the Resident Advisors and lead their day-to-day tasks at residential programs.
  • Provide regular and meaningful supervision, schedules, appraisals, team meetings, and case conferences for the team.
  • Conduct monthly team meetings to review program operations.
  • Participate in case reviews with Case Managers.
  • Obtain certifications for programs to meet funding requirements or program operations.
  • Clearly communicate expectations to the team.
  • Oversee monitoring and accountability of residential-program staff.
  • Respond to and assist the team during crisis situations, modeling how staff should manage crises.
  • Participate in daily shift transitions.
  • Create and maintain a safe and healthy sanctuary for youth in the program.
  • Assess and diffuse volatile situations using and modeling de-escalation and crisis-management skills.
  • Ensure integration and coordination between program efforts and program areas.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with internal and external colleagues, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Implement and track ongoing training and professional development for team members.
  • Use data and information systems for informed decision-making and performance strategies.
  • Assist in managing and monitoring the progress and performance of program contracts and grants.
  • Ensure adequate coverage for all operating shifts.
  • Represent the program at planned events.
  • Coordinate onboarding of new Resident Advisors.
  • Serve as Shift Leader at 41st Street and Point Person at Bronx sites.
  • Provide direct care services as needed.
  • Supervise, coach, and support Resident Advisors in their professional development.
  • Assist Program Coordinators with hiring direct-care staff.
  • Conduct weekly supervision with Resident Advisors.
  • Act as a resource for direct-care staff.
  • Ensure Resident Advisors receive and complete all training.
  • Write and conduct probationary and annual performance reviews for Resident Advisors.
  • Ensure appropriate follow-up and submission of incident reports.
  • Assist with internal audits of staff physicals with the Program Coordinator and compliance team.
  • Independently recognize and perform duties that need to be done without direct assignment.
  • Establish priorities and organize work and time to meet them.
  • Recognize and respond to emerging priorities and accept changes and new ideas.
  • Develop workable alternatives to address problems.
  • Respond to supervision, coaching, and constructive criticism.
  • Adhere to attendance, punctuality, conduct, communication, smoking, break, and related workplace policies.
  • Uphold Covenant House New York’s mission, vision, principles, standards of conduct, policies, and procedures.
  • Perform other site-specific duties as assigned and needed.
Desired Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
