Department Overview
The System Engineering Intern is a position created for a student enrolled in an Engineering program. This is a remote position responsible for the engineering, design, and implementation support of solutions for ASTRO 25 and adjacent technologies for Federal government agencies requiring highly secure, easily managed, mission critical IP networks. You will develop, design, evaluate, and/or modify systems consistent with customer and regulatory requirements. You will also develop system architecture, and ensure the integrity of the architecture/design.
Job Description
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
Consult with our Pre-Sale Design team to set strategy, direction, and costs
Create and document detailed system, network, rack, and RF drawings
Evaluate third-party vendor equipment used in our innovative portfolio
Deliver network topology assessments and troubleshooting
Present internal and external technical presentations
Deliver equipment and software solution demos, including configuration, and testing
Qualifications:
General knowledge of IT network and computer architecture
General knowledge of wireless communications fundamentals and voice/data architectures both public and private (e.g. APCO P25, LTE, 802.11, 4G/5G) highly desirable
A positive attitude with a can-do mentality that enables you to be creative, resourceful, and deliver results
Strong written and oral communications skills with the ability to present complex topics to technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Willingness to think out of the box and challenge the status-quo
Attention to detail
Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering
Reside within a commutable distance to our Linthicum Heights, MD office, as occasional on-site project work will be required
