  • 5+ years of legal experience handling employment law matters
  • Significant employment law litigation and counseling experience, and demonstrated understanding of all aspects of employment law, including leave and accommodations laws, wage and hour issues, matters relating to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and workplace investigations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to simplify complicated legal concepts into "plain English" for your business partners at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent judgment and a creative problem solver
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills, with the ability to review novel issues, provide analysis and assess risk
  • Experience developing policies and process improvements
  • JD from an accredited law school and an active and good standing license to practice law in New York, or ability to attain NY license shortly
Responsibilities
  • Handle a broad spectrum of employment law matters, including: recruitment and hiring; compensation and benefits; employee relations; performance management and discipline; investigations; leaves of absence and accommodation; wage and hour issues; discrimination and harassment; and termination
  • Provide counsel on complex/sensitive employment matters and help resolve matters through pre-dispute resolution and/or positioning Peloton for potential litigation/arbitration
  • Manage outside counsel, and/or handle, all aspects of employment disputes and litigation, including administrative EEO charges, discovery, fact-finding and analysis, witness preparation, and arbitration or trial preparation as needed
  • Work as an individual contributor, serve as a trusted advisor to the People Team and global business partners to support the development, implementation, and monitoring of scalable and compliant team policies, procedures, and trainings relating to the employee lifecycle
  • Draft employment-related agreements, templates, and forms (e.g., employment, consulting, separation, etc.)
  • Collaborate with other attorneys on the team to deliver advice and counsel to the People Team and other cross-functional partners
  • Research relevant labor, employment, and compliance topics and stay current on developments in the law and evolving best practices; develop and update corporate policies as needed
  • Create and lead training on global employment law issues
  • Support internal clients across jurisdictions and time zones
  • Other duties as assigned
