Prestage Farms is a vertically integrated producer of pork and turkey in the United States. The company controls every part of the supply chain, from raising animals to producing specialized feed in their own mills and running a major processing plant, culminating in packaged products. Its product flow starts on the farm, passes through in-house feed mills and processing facilities, and ends as ready-for-sale meat products. What sets Prestage apart is that it remains family-owned and operated, expanding steadily across states while maintaining full control of the entire value chain rather than relying on external suppliers. Its goal is to be a leading, reliable provider of pork and turkey by maintaining tight oversight of quality, efficiency, and scale through a long-term, disciplined growth strategy from farm to final product.

  • Its March 2019 Iowa plant gives direct control over slaughter, processing, and margins.
  • About 1.1 billion pounds of production and private-label channels support steady scale advantages.

What critics are saying

  • July 2026 turkey antitrust settlements force Prestage into costly price-fixing litigation and damages.
  • Ongoing Illinois trial against remaining defendants keeps subpoena risk and discovery pressure alive.
  • A major food-safety or labor scandal could cripple vertically integrated operations and brand trust.

What makes Prestage unique

  • Family-owned since 1983, Prestage controls feed, farms, processing, and branded turkey and pork.
