Requirements
  • Hold an MD degree.
  • Complete specialty training in Geriatric Medicine.
  • Be certified by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada or an equivalent body.
  • Be eligible for licensure in Quebec and hold certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec.
  • Complete, or intend to complete, at least one additional year of clinical and/or research training, or hold an MSc or PhD degree in a domain pertaining to aging and geriatrics.
  • Be able to interact in English and French with patients, families, and health care professionals.
  • Demonstrate commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Responsibilities
  • Work as the consultant geriatrician on inpatient units, primarily at the Lachine hospital site.
  • Expand consultation services to the emergency room and develop outpatient clinical activities as applicable.
  • Work at other adult MUHC sites, including Royal Victoria Hospital and Montreal General Hospital, in inpatient and outpatient settings as applicable.
  • Take evening and weekend on-call duties in Geriatric Medicine across the adult MUHC sites.
  • Teach the next generation of physicians through didactic and clinical teaching.
  • Participate in research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and academic and administrative committees.
  • Contribute to service activities within the clinical unit, the University, and the wider scholarly community.
  • Submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, an academic plans statement, and contact information for three referees as part of the application.
Desired Qualifications
  • Bilingual French and English language skills are preferred.
  • A commitment to acquire the language skills needed to practice medicine in Quebec is preferred.

Club M&A and McGill's Dobson Centre launch acquisition programme as $218B in Canadian businesses set for ownership transition

Club M&A Canada and McGill's Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship have opened registration for their first Entrepreneurship Through Acquisition programme. The intensive four-day course, running 27–30 October in Montreal, targets professionals and aspiring entrepreneurs interested in acquiring existing small or medium-sized businesses. The programme addresses a significant succession challenge in Canada. According to the Business Development Bank of Canada, nearly one in five Canadian businesses will undergo ownership transition within five years, representing over $300 billion in business revenue. Marc Deegan, founder of R33 Ventures, will serve as programme director. The curriculum covers developing investment theses, target evaluation, financial and legal considerations, acquisition financing, and post-acquisition transition. Instructors include transaction professionals, lawyers, tax specialists, investors, and entrepreneurs with acquisition experience. Admission is by application, with no prior M&A experience required.
