A Day in the Life
Medtronic’s Coronary and Renal Denervation (CRDN) business is looking for an experienced Senior Engineering Program Manager to be part of a high-performing team that is revolutionizing the design and development of energy based therapeutic medical devices to treat hypertension. In this role, you will leverage both your technical breadth and business acumen to accelerate the design and development of next generation medical devices. The work you do will impact patients globally and help support Medtronic’s mission of alleviating pain, restoring health, and extending life for millions.
This engineering position requires strong technical and leadership skills to support the design and development of innovative, new products within the Cardiac and Vascular Group. The Sr. PD Program Manager will apply advanced technical principles, theories, and concepts in working on complex technical problems, and will provide technical leadership of projects from concept generation through early phase development to market release.
This role requires exceptional soft skills, ability to navigate complex organizational norms and build strong cross functional relationships even when there is debate on how work should be accomplished; work with a dynamic multi-cultural team
Be a Recognized expert, managing large projects or processes. Exercises considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments, with limited oversight from manager. Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower-level specialists, at times acting as a team leader. May manage large projects or processes that span outside of immediate job area.
- Work closely with cross-functional partners such as Systems Engineering, Electrical & Mechanical Engineering, Software, Manufacturing, Regulatory and Quality, to take a product from ideation to market release.
- Contributes to defining the direction for new products, processes, standards, or operational plans based on business strategy with a significant impact on work group results. May negotiate with others to reach understanding or agreement, and influence decision-making.
- Leads design, develop, test, debug, and verification including software.
- Establishes high standards of development quality within the team through good practices and habits.
- Provide technical input supporting submissions to regulatory bodies and governmental agencies.
- Collaborate with people inside and outside of the company, as well as identify suppliers and external partners needed throughout the development process.
- Lead and support our intellectual property portfolio through generation and support of novel ideas and product concepts.
- Lead the Extended R&D Team to ensure on-time and on-budget performance through the new product development cycle.
- Create strategic solutions to meet anticipated patient and business needs with predictability and certainty.
- Ensure scope, cost, resource and schedule alignment between operations and core team functions
- Follow compliance processes for New Product Development
- Skilled negotiator with demonstrated ability to create mutually beneficial results and negotiate tradeoffs
- Ensure structured problem methods and predictive engineering principles are consistently and rigorously applied, such as Design for Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar concepts.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and the ability to ask critical questions without being the subject matter expert Experience with product concept development, customer interaction, systems engineering and validation of customer needs/design requirements
- Working knowledge of systems engineering principles, requirements management, and medical device regulation
- Demonstrated strength in building strong relationships at all levels of the organization, cross-functionally, and with key people external to the organization
- Experience developing software within the medical device industry
- Experience with medical device design controls (e.g. ISO 13485), risk analysis (e.g. ISO 14971), and IEC62304 and SDLC
- Broad knowledge of project management, including Agile Scrum methodologies.
Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience.

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$160,000.00 - $240,000.00This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
