Requirements
  • Have a strong understanding of substance misuse issues and experience of working within a similar field.
  • Have experience of working with groups or pods and managing group dynamics, including conflict or challenging behaviour.
  • Be an excellent verbal and written communicator with good information technology skills.
  • Be proactive and able to work on own initiative, with strong time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Have a good working knowledge of mental health interventions, services, and good practice.
  • Have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in partnership with a wide range of professionals, agencies, and internal or external stakeholders.
  • Have the ability to manage change successfully while prioritising the needs of service users.
  • Understand the importance of information governance processes and commit to following and applying all necessary safeguards.
  • Seek learning opportunities to improve and broaden professional knowledge and skills, and contribute to and oversee the learning and development of others.

Responsibilities
  • Support service users from entry into the service through their treatment and recovery journey.
  • Provide screening, assessment, recovery planning, and onward referral.
  • Reduce drug- and alcohol-related harm to service users and the wider community.
  • Promote carer, service-user, and community involvement.
  • Provide advocacy for access to partnership services.
  • Work with service users to support social reintegration and enable meaningful and purposeful lives by promoting recovery, resilience, peer support, and self-determination.
  • Research, design, and prepare subject matter and materials for groups or pods.
  • Deliver structured content within group settings to service users at various stages of recovery.
  • Participate in debriefing and evaluations with co-facilitators after groups or pods, reviewing progress and identifying concerns with service users.
  • Tailor workshops to service-user needs, including anger management, sleep disorders, and relationships.
