Requirements
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in high-containment medical research facilities.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mechanical controls.
  • A minimum of 5 years of Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience at a biosafety laboratory.
  • A minimum Associate's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • Experience with high-containment medical research facilities up to Biosafety Level 4 involving mechanical controls engineering, programming, installation, plumbing, and validation.
  • Experience reviewing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performing quality control inspections of high-containment medical research design and construction projects up to Biosafety Level 4.
  • Experience with CDC auditing, accreditation, and certification processes for select-agent and high-containment medical research facilities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must currently hold a minimum Secret security clearance and maintain the required clearance throughout contract performance.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or passport for commercial airfare travel.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license.
Responsibilities
  • Provide onsite quality assurance support for major repair, replacement, maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Support procurement and installation activities associated with Utility Monitoring and Controls Systems, Building Automation Systems, Electronic Security Systems, and related facility systems.
  • Evaluate project schedules and perform technical and project documentation reviews.
  • Coordinate daily with Facility Managers, Project Managers, facilities staff, laboratory personnel, and other Government personnel.
  • Attend meetings supporting operations, repair, maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Provide weekly project status updates to Government officials.
  • Conduct field surveys to investigate existing facility layouts and conditions.
  • Review, commission, troubleshoot, and perform quality control inspections of high-containment research facility systems and projects.
  • Coordinate with laboratory personnel regarding project reviews and planned utility outages.
  • Coordinate with infection control and safety personnel to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Ensure conformance with applicable NFPA codes, BMBL guidance, AAALAC standards, CDC biosafety and biosecurity requirements, safety standards, and other agency criteria.
  • Identify and report compliance issues to appropriate Government officials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or controls trade experience.
  • Proficiency with Direct Digital Controls and design.
  • Prior Government construction experience.
