Senior Developer

Position Overview

The data models' team is responsible for building and enhancing our SQL engine, document database, BI/analytics engine, vector search, and data specific machine learning integration into our core database architecture. Our focus is on ensuring flexible and highly scalable integration of these different data models into the IRIS platform, along with making these technologies easily accessible to customers.

To be successful in this role, we are seeking highly skilled senior developers who have strong analytical design skills and can investigate complex problems in the database space, review current research papers, pick a solution, and create a clean implementation of the algorithm. This position is located at the InterSystems headquarters in Boston, MA.

Responsibilities

The Senior Developer will have responsibility for taking product needs specified by product management, building out a design that fits cleanly into the large existing product architecture. Then documenting this design and turning this design into production ready code along with unit tests to validate the behavior and delivering this into the product. They are expected to fully understand all algorithmic choices they make in their design to ensure the solution will perform well and scale correctly. They will participate in code review sessions and engage in design/architecture discussions along with maintaining documentation outlining the architecture of their specific area of responsibility.

As product defects are reported they are responsible for debugging the defect and working to resolve any problems found.

Understanding of complex systems along with how to model and improve them is a key skill required.

This role necessitates close collaboration with Quality Development, as well as other development teams and shared services such as Support, Integrated Platform Engineering, Learning Services, and Documentation.

Position Requirements

• 5+ years of experience as a software developer
• 5+ years of in-depth knowledge and expertise with language such as Python/Java/C++
• Excitement and enthusiasm for algorithms, data structures and high-performance data pipelines
• Expertise in ML/AI research
• Expertise in database architecture
• Demonstrated skill and experience in driving timely results
• Able to balance competing pressures and priorities
• College degree in a technical field like Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics
