  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or a vocational school of practical nursing.
  • Must have good communication, comprehension, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
  • Must have working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office Suite, and the Internet.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must hold a current nurse license.
Responsibilities
  • Supervise, provide, and direct nursing care in compliance with facility policies and procedures.
  • Make advanced-level observations, report and record observations appropriately, form nursing judgments, and carry out nursing actions.
  • Follow established nursing practice standards and comply with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Interpret existing policies to staff, families, and physicians.
  • Perform daily rounds and develop and implement comprehensive care plans based on each resident’s needs.
  • Pass medications and treatments according to established policies and procedures.
  • Order and credit medications as needed and maintain accurate accounting of stock medications, unit-dose medications, and narcotics.
  • Follow staffing guidelines, make nursing assignments, and provide accurate reports on residents’ conditions to ensure continuity of care.
  • Monitor diets, supervise meal trays and snacks, and monitor residents’ intake.
  • Assist with passing meal trays, feeding residents, and passing snacks.
  • Follow facility admission procedures and communicate admissions to other departments, staff, physicians, and service providers.
  • Ensure employees follow the chain of command in accordance with personnel policies.
  • Assign nursing assistants and ensure efficient completion of their assignments.
  • Supervise, document, and correct poor performance of nursing assistants, and keep Unit Managers or the Director of Nursing informed of performance problems.
  • Participate in nursing-assistant performance evaluations and provide counseling, coaching, and training.
  • Report changes in residents’ physical or mental conditions in a timely manner.
  • Attend staff meetings, in-services, interdisciplinary team meetings, and committee meetings as assigned.
  • Document resident information, changes, and notifications to the power of attorney and physician accurately, confidentially, and on time.
  • Perform comprehensive assessments as assigned.
  • Verify that changeover medication administration records and treatment administration records are correctly updated and make necessary changes to new records by the first of each month.
  • Know resident rights and help residents exercise and protect those rights.
  • Report resident complaints to the supervisor in charge and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ensure residents’ safety, including verifying that Wanderguard tabs and bracelets are securely attached and functioning properly.
  • Demonstrate proper equipment use and report equipment needs or repairs.
  • Use protective equipment and follow infection-control protocols, universal precautions, and life-safety measures.
  • Complete annual education requirements, including compliance, privacy, security, and HIPAA training.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
