Requirements
  • In-depth knowledge of computer science data structures and algorithms
  • Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code (IaC)

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or equivalent education or work experience.
Responsibilities
  • Provide thought leadership and guidance in solving complex security and automation challenges.
  • Work closely with managers, team members, and other engineering teams to develop effective solutions.
  • Ensure the quality, usability, and performance of all solutions delivered.
  • Leverage extensive hands-on experience in complex system design and data pipeline architectures, focusing on scale, performance, and tuning.
  • Be fluent in multiple programming languages (e.g., Java, Go, Python, C++) and scripting languages (e.g., Bash, PowerShell).
  • Understand and work with open-source security products such as Security Onion, Snort, OpenVAS, Grafana, and others.
  • Act as a role model and mentor, coaching and guiding team members to enhance their technical expertise.
  • Share best practices consistently and drive continuous improvement across teams.
  • Determine resource needs, evaluate operational processes, and measure outcomes to ensure desired results.
  • Utilize experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools (e.g., Git, Jenkins, CircleCI), with knowledge of Terraform or Ansible as a plus.
  • Apply deep knowledge of security tools and frameworks, focusing on enhancements, support, and automation.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, taking ownership of solutions from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Demonstrate creativity and responsiveness with a strong sense of urgency in delivering solutions.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and assist others in understanding technical and business topics.
  • Stay up to date with the latest cybersecurity trends, technologies, and best practices.

Ny Fines Car Insurers $20 Million Over Reporting Failures

New York has closed a multi-year probe into car insurers’ failure to report timely information. That investigation, the New York State Department of Financial Services (NYDFS) said Monday (Feb. 24), has resulted in $20.4 million in fines on insurers who failed to provide insured vehicle information to the state’s motor vehicles department (DMV) in a timely fashion. “Accurate and timely reporting by insurers is critical to protecting New Yorkers on the road, ensuring compliance with state laws, and maintaining the integrity of our enforcement systems,” NYDFS superintendent Adrienne Harris said in a news release

Paypal To Settle New York’S Allegations Of Cybersecurity Failures

PayPal will pay a $2 million penalty to New York state to settle the state’s allegations that the company had cybersecurity failures that led to a data breach. New York alleged that PayPal violated the state’s Cybersecurity Regulation by failing to use qualified personnel to manage cybersecurity and by failing to provide adequate training around cybersecurity risks, the New York State Department of Financial Services (DFS) said in a Thursday (Jan. 23) press release. The state alleged that, because of these cybersecurity failures, cybercriminals were able to use compromised credentials to access IRS Form 1099-Ks, which include Social Security numbers and other sensitive information, when PayPal made changes to existing data flows, according to the release
