Requirements
  • Experience using the Linux command-line interface and Linux tools.
  • Experience developing Bash scripts to automate manual processes.
  • Recent Python 3.x software development experience.
  • Experience with Rust programming concepts, or willingness and aptitude to learn Rust.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases, including MongoDB.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and containerd.
  • Experience with container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes.
  • Experience creating Helm Charts to deploy containerized services on Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with messaging frameworks, including RabbitMQ.
  • Familiarity with continuous integration and continuous delivery principles, methodologies, and tools, including GitLab CI.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code principles, methodologies, and tools such as Ansible.
  • Experience with Git source control.
  • An active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information clearance with polygraph.
  • A Master's degree in computer science or a related discipline plus five years of software engineering experience, or a Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related discipline plus seven years of software engineering experience, or nine years of software engineering experience without a degree.
Responsibilities
  • Analyze user requirements to derive software design and performance requirements.
  • Debug existing software and correct defects.
  • Design and code new software or modify existing software to add features.
  • Write or review software and system documentation.
  • Integrate existing software into new or modified systems or operating environments.
  • Develop simple data queries for existing or proposed databases or data repositories.
  • Design and develop relational and non-relational database applications.
  • Develop or implement algorithms to meet or exceed system performance and functional standards.
  • Develop and execute test procedures for software components.
  • Develop software solutions by analyzing system performance standards, system flows, data usage, work processes, and problem areas.
  • Modify existing software to adapt to new hardware or improve performance.
  • Design, develop, and modify software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes.
  • Develop Java applications using the Eclipse integrated development environment.
  • Develop Java 2 Enterprise Edition applications.
  • Implement continuous integration practices.
  • Develop event-driven or data-driven analytics.
  • Develop cloud-based solutions and technologies.
  • Design or implement complex algorithms subject to strict timing, system resource, or interface constraints.
  • Perform quality control on team products and developed or modified software.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to documentation and software development process standards.
  • Oversee software development teams and ensure work complies with the applicable software development process.
  • Confer with system and hardware engineers to derive software requirements and obtain project limitations, capabilities, performance requirements, and interfaces.
  • Coordinate software installation and monitor system performance against operational specifications.
  • Recommend new technologies and processes for complex software projects.
  • Serve as technical lead for multiple software development teams.
  • Select the software development process in coordination with the customer and systems engineering.
  • Delegate programming and testing responsibilities to teams and monitor their performance.
  • Develop, sustain, and troubleshoot the GHOSTGEM software suite, including DINO and future mission capabilities.
  • Implement, test, and integrate software with commercial, government, and free/open-source products, packages, and libraries.
