- National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board, or American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography is required based on the modalities performed.
- State regulatory agency licensure is required where applicable.
- Advanced specialty certification from an accrediting body is required where applicable for employees hired on or after August 1, 2019.
- Basic Life Support certification is required.
- Two years of Radiologic Technologist experience is typically required for the clinical knowledge expected in this position.
- The technologist must be actively working in each certified modality according to facility needs.
- Certification in two or more modalities is required: Radiologic X-ray, Computed Tomography, Bone Densitometry, Mammography, Breast Sonography, or Angiography.
- Perform prescribed procedures by following and verifying referring providers’ orders and applying established methodologies, policies, and procedures.
- Educate patients and families about procedures or treatments.
- Produce high-quality images and prepare them with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation.
- Prepare and maintain accurate documentation.
- Perform prescribed invasive or interventional procedures when applicable and according to established policies.
- Perform and evaluate equipment quality-control measurements, troubleshoot equipment issues, and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
- Maintain a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors and adhere to safety policies.
- Maintain confidentiality of work information and fulfill ethical, legal, and professional radiology responsibilities.
- Ensure efficient department workflow and maintain adequate supplies and materials to prevent service interruptions.
- Rotate and cover department scheduling as needed in areas where the technologist’s certifications apply.
- Collaborate with medical imaging staff, nursing staff, medical staff, interdisciplinary healthcare teams, regulatory and health agencies, patients, and family members.
- Additional related education and/or experience is preferred.
